Don't miss out this is the time in bowl season I dominate went 3-0 on new years and I look to come with a huge
Victory tonight! Guaranteed or 3 days free!!!

No surprise to me that Stanford is favorites in this spot.  All the buz with Jim Harbough and Andrew Luck going to the NFL next year.  What I’m more focused on is the Pac-10 conference which to me should be embarrassed to call themselves a BCS conference.  They were awful in bowl games last year and Arizona already embarrassed them 36-10 vs. Oklahoma State while Washington had a good out come vs. Nebraska. ACC meanwhile is 4-2 thus far and Virginia Tech is their best team winners of 11 straight after an 0-3 start.

Schedule wise Virginia Tech has faced a much stiffer test on both sides of the ball and it can be argued that this is going to be the best defense that Stanford has faced all year long.  Stanford faced an average total defense ranked 68th in the nation while Vtech faced a 56th.  Stanford faced an average total offense ranked 65th whiel Vtech faced 51st.  It’s no question that Virginia Tech had a much more challenging road to get to the Orange Bowl.

It’s no coincidence that Stanford’s two closest games a loss to Oregon and a game winning field goal to beat USC were against teams that could run the ball ranked 25th and 2nd.  Also Tyrod Taylor is just the second dual threat QB they have faced this year ask them how Darron Thomas dominated them with 117 yards rushing to go along with the teams 388.  Stanford gave up over 4.0 yards per carry and they have marginal talent up front.  A lot of teams chose to throw because they fell behind early.  Virginia Tech has as talented of a backfield as any with David Wilson the shifty big play and Darren Evans who racked up 11 TD’s and 817 yards and Ryan Williams who is likely to get some action tonight but not sure how much with his hamstring.  Taylor is the ex factor he had 823 yards rushing to go along with his 23 TD’s and an amazing 4 interceptions.  That beats out Andrew Luck who has the better career ahead of Taylor but this is Taylor’s moment.

Luck had 28 TD and 7 interceptions, but he faced weaker competition in pass defense and pass rush for the most part.  Away from home Luck was not as impressive with 8 TD’s and 6 interceptions.  He’ll face one of the most talented if not the most talented secondaries in America.  A team that led the nation in takeaways with 22 interceptions and was #8 in pass efficiency defense.  Saftey Davon Morgan and Corner Rashard Carmichael will be a handful in their own, but the man that can dominate this game and enter the draft will be sophomore Jayron Hosley who had 8 INT’s this year.

Stanford beat just 3 bowl teams this year and none of them could come close to the talent Virginia Tech has.  Speical teams is about even despite what everyone says about Frank Beamer teams, and coaching I would have to say is about even.  Harbough has done an amazing job with Luck and there is a reason he is getting scouted by NFL teams as well as Michigan.  All in all Virginia Tech is closer to home and carry a better defense and the ingredients on offense to make Stanford struggle.  I expect Stanford to be in this game but Virginia Tech will make up for their loss vs. Boise to open the season that in the end cost them a National Title Opportunity.
