Southern Miss +25 2.2% play

Roughly 74% of the action on Miami yet the line that opened at 26.5 is down to 25.   Miami is in a major look ahead spot with Texas A&M game next week looming, and a chance to say they’re back again.  I don’t see Cristobal wanting to put it on Southern Miss here, and I’m not sure they can.  Southern Miss has a solid veteran defense, they are a run first team and were 117th in pace (seconds per play last year), Oregon was 86th last year under Cristobal.  Miami also has had issues tackling, and Cristobal has not been impressed with what he’s seeing in practice so to me that just spells trouble when you have a trap game like this.  Southern Miss has a quality RB in Frank Gore Jr. and I came way very impressed with their effort vs Liberty in week 1.  I think we are getting value from Southern Miss being down the last few years, but they were hit hard with injuries last year particularly at QB, and should keep this one closer than the 25 points.
