Texas State +14 2.2% play
We have seen Texas State step up their level of play in the past against better teams. Last year they opened the season as a 23 point dog to SMU and lost by 7 on the road, and then 2 weeks later they traveled on the road to Boston College as 20 point under dogs and lost by only 3. This is HC Jake Spavital’s third year and he’s calling it his best team yet. Texas State’s offense is one of the better units in the Sun Belt led by QB Brady McBride, veteran OL, deep group of RB’s. If necessary the back door would be wide open.
For Baylor they are in their second year for Dave Aranda as their head coach. He literally had to start from scratch last year with players, and then had no offseason to really gel it all together. With 17 returning starters there is a lot of hope, but they lose their veteran QB Charlie Brewer who transfer out to Utah, and I’m really not confident in Gerry Bohanon overall. Actually, I’m not a huge fan of the Dave Aranda hire it sort of reminds me of Manny Diaz at Miami. Both above average DC, but the jury is still out on whether or not they get be head coaches.
