Tonight we go with the Dodgers off another POD winner as we begin to turn this around 5-1 in our last 6. Still long to go if I'm going to feel good about that 11 POD in a row streak I had a while back. Bottom line these plays have made profits.
Tonight we get Gorzelanny vs. Jeff Weaver both who I don't expect to go late into the game. Let's start with Gorzelanny who will make only his fourth start with the Cubs. He has not really impressed me he had that quality start against the Reds and he looked good where we bet on him against the Pirates. He produced for us striking out 8 batters in only 5IP but gave up 3H and 3BB those numbers worry me a bit because the Pirates are #27 in the league in walks taken and the Dodgers are #7. Pirates also who have lost a lot of depth in their lineup struck out 8 times and are ranked #14 in getting K'd while the Dodgers are #18 so I'm expecting more damage coming out of the Dodgers here tonight who just came off a tough 3 game series with the Cardinals. Also note that Gorzelanny pitching in a complete different time zone on the road may make life a little more difficult which will lead to the bullpen at some point. The bullpen that has a 4.92 ERA on the road and 5.71 last 10 and 7.02 in their last 3. The Cubs are 1-10 in their last 11 road games vs. a home team with a winning % of more than .600 at home.
Weaver will make another spot start for the Dodgers here and he's got 6 starts on the year and a 3.08 ERA when he starts. At home he has a 3.11 ERA overall in 3 GS and 11 total games. Cubs core in Ramirez and Lee are a combined 3-25 vs. Weaver. Although Weaver won't likely go long maybe 5 or 6 innings I'll put my trust in them at home where they have a 3.01 ERA and 2.53 in their last 3 games. Dodgers are 7-1 in their last 8 games when Weaver starts as a favorite -110 to -150. They are also hitting LHP much better than they hit RHP and are 22-10 in their last 32 vs. LH starters. At home this year they average .39 more points vs. LHP and are scoring 1.10 more runs vs. LHP than RHP. Dodgers following a loss are 42-20 in their last 62. I like the Dodgers a lot tonight.
