We go with the Twins here this afternoon in a pitching match up of Millwood vs. Baker.
Baker has pitched well as of late 3-0, 0.84 Whip and a 2.11 ERA in his last three starts. He'll go up against the Rangers who he has pitched well in two starts both coming on the road in two victories for the Twins. This time he will have the luxury of pitching at home where he is 6-4 this year. In his two starts he went a combined 13.1 IP gave up 5 ER and 14 K's on 15H. He threw a gem in his last start against them going 8 innigs giving up just 1 ER. I think we might see some of the same from Baker this afternoon.
Unfortunately for Millwood I think we will see another sub par performance as his ERA is nearly a run higher post All-Star break than it was in the first half. He is 3-6 away and has a 4.56 ERA. In his last three starts he has a 5.82 ERA and has not pitched well against the Twins. In his last three starts he went 18 innings gave up 26 H 7 BB and 15 ER (5 ER in each start). The Twins have a collective .333 average against him and now they add Orlando Cabrera to the lineup and he's 28 for 89 for a .315 average. Texas is 10-27 in Millwood's last 37 road starts and the Twins are 11-1 in Baker's Last 12 outings as a favorite. Take the Twins in this spot.
