I really like the A's despite them getting swept by the Angels. I think they just ran into a hot team and now they return home where they are 13-7 to play the Mariners who are 6-13 away. The Mariners will throw R.R. Smith at them and in 2 starts he has just 12 IP and 7 ER against the A's this year. Gonzalez on the other hand has been really strong against the Mariners in 4 career starts he has a 4.24 ERA. He has been solid at home with a 3.93 ERA and is due for a solid outing which could very well happen tonight. The Mariners have not been able to hit lefty pitching as they are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. a LH starter, but on the road they are hitting just .201 and scoring an average of 1.36 runs per 9 vs. LHP on the road. Their bullpen on the road also just 5.14.
A's have played solid ball at home with good pitching. I think that's what is ahead of them on Monday with Gonzalez on the mound. The Mariners in their last 10 are scoring just 2.39 runs per 9 vs. LH pitching. Oakland is 8-2 in their last 10 home vs. a team witha losing record under .400 and they are 20-7 in their last 27 as a home favorite.
Low number but I like how these two pitchers have performed as of late with both ERA's under 3.00 in their last 3 starts. Both offenses have really struggled mainly due to the injuries they have occured. The Padres are hitting .117 and scoring just .98 runs per 9 vs. RHP in their last 5 games while the Giants clock in at .266/3.64 runs per 9.The under is 23-7 in the Padres L30 games following a loss while the Giants are under 35-17-2 in Cains last 54 starts vs. a winning team.
