The Giants are 2nd to the Twins with 131 runs in the month of July. They have won 16 of 20 and most of it is due to Buster Posey the rookie catcher has a 20 game hit streak going and he'll face another rookie in Alex Sanabia who has a 1.55 WHIP, but a 2.11 ERA. Scratch your head at that WHIP? So am I. Sanabia has been working out of jams all year now he travels to the West Coast to make a day start at 4:05 local time. He has yet to go through 6 full innings and that means a lot of work from the Florida bullpen which has a 8.71 ERA in it's last three and 6.46 ERA over it's last 10 overall of which during that time the Marlins have hit just .226 while scoring 2.83 runs per 9 vs. LHP.
Giants throw Johnathan Sanchez out there who has a 3.00 ERA and a 3.08 ERA during the day. I like for him to shut down the Marlins here. Hanley Ramirez is in the midst of a slump over the last 20 games wtih a .228 average and just 2 RBI. The Giants as I mentioned have been hitting and they are scoring 5.52 runs per 9 overall in their last 5 which will be plenty with their starter on the mound. Giants are 10-1 in their last 11 vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. 17-5 last 22 overall 18-8 as home favorites and 9-2 with Sanchez on mound as favorite to -150.
Mets are one of the better home teams and they hit left handed pitching extremely well at home as David Wright hits nearly .400. Garcia gave up just 1 hit and 0 ER first time he faced the Mets but the Mets are a bit more healthier this time around and 8 runs last night showed lots of sings of them getting hot as they are a streaky team to begin with. Cardinals have not been hitting any way with just a .221 average and 1.88 runs per 9 over their last 10 vs. LHP. They face Johan Santana who has a 0.71 ERA in July and has a 2.81 ERA at home this year. In 4 career starts vs. the Cards he's got a 2.03 ERA and is 3-1. Pujols looked injured last night as he went 0-5 and is rib seems to be the trouble. Cardinals are 7-20 on the road in their last 27 vs. a team with a winning record and are 3-13 in their last 16 as a road dog while the Mets are 9-1 in their last 10 home games vs. LH starter as they are .296 and 5.33 runs per 9 this season.
