We have a nice pitching match up here today between two guys who have been throwing great. Vincente Padilla has been great and Mat Latos has been even better with a  4-0 record and 0.80 ERA since June 22nd. Padilla has not been the same on the road this year as he posts a 4.91 ERA away and a 4.76 ERA during his day starts while Latos at home has a 4-2 record and 2.23 ERA as well as a 2.01 ERA and 3-1 record during 5 day starts.

Padres are 19-12 during the day and have hit better during the day than they have at night. While the Dodgers still at 16-13, but are hitting just .251 (-.16 vs. night) and .699 OPS (-.40 vs. night) are in a big funk right now with just 12 runs in their last 7 games and averaging just 2.49 runs per 9 vs. RHP over their last 10 with a .208 average. Padres on the other hand are hitting 4.96 runs per 9 vs. RHP in their last 10 and their bullpen has been dominant as well with a 2.03 ERA while the Dodgers are 5.97. If this comes down to a bullpen game which is a good chance the Padres also have the advantage.
Â
Dodgers brought over Scott Podsednick to play today, but his impact at first should be marginal going up against Latos and the Padres pitching at home that has gotten hem a 30-20 record. Dodgers are 1-6 in Padillaâs last 7 road starts and they are 4-9 in their last 13 road vs. a RH starter. Padres 35-17 in their last 52 as a favorite -110 to -150.
