All of the attention will be on Troy’s #6 ranked passing offense, but let’s be honest they haven’t played a decent pass defense all year long.  The 4 teams they have faced have an average 107th pass defense with all of them over 100.  The total defense is 106.  Mid TN has played the Sun Belt’s conference best defense and are ranked 37th in the country against the pass and they have been tested with the 66th average ranked pass offense.  Overall Mid Tenn has the conference best defense and this might be the loudest environment redshirt Freshmen Corey Robinson has gone into.  Mid Ten is leading the league in sacks and they rank 2nd in tackles for loss.  This will be a black out game where the players and the crowd wear black jerseys.  They are only allowed to do this once a year and they have chosen this game because Troy is the perennial Sun Belt winners, but not tonight.
 
Middle Tennessee was the pre-season favorite and it was because of their outstanding QB Dwight Dasher.  He was the fourth NCAA player to top 1,000 yeards while throwing for 2,500 in the same season a year ago.  Dasher took a $1,500 loan and was suspended by the NCAA for the first 4 games.  They still managed #34 total offense including #32 rushing game in the nation that is only going to improve with the addition of Dasher.  Do I expect him to be rusty? Not really as he goes up against the nation’s 117th ranked pass defense.  This team is ranked 100th in the nation in points allowed giving up at least 27 in each of their games.  Dasher is a dual threat and I expect him to have a big game.  The biggest story here will be the Blue Raiders defense and Randall McCray who took over for MTSU for the first year has really shown an improvement that will allow them to compete for the conference championship now that Dasher is back. 
 
Special teams is an advantage for the Blue Raiders too.. Despite Troy’s WR jernel Jernigan being an all purpose yards killer MTSU has a fantastic return game and the Sun Belt’s best punting game.  Also note Troy has struggled getting the ball in the end zone at times.  There is a reason they have already attempted 12 field goals and Michael Taylor has missed two as well as 1 extra points.  Troy has 13 TD’s and 12 field goals thus far.  That’s not a good combination and I expect MTSU to stop this team a couple of times to kick a field goal which will mean + points for Middle Tenn as they have 16 TD’s to their 5 field goal’s and that’s without their best offensive player that they are getting back tonight.
