Cardinals -145 (3.5* Early Bird Special)
Cardinals are on a role and Edwin Jackson has a 2-0 record and 2.08 ERA over his last 4 starts.  He’s been bad on the road and during day starts but we take a chance vs. a weak line up as he’s 3-0 with a 3.24 in 4 career starts vs. the Pirates. Pirates are just 14-34 since July and are one of the worst hitting teams at home so we feel Jackson should put up a quality start which is all he’ll need vs. Charlie Morton today.  Morton has allowed 30 base runners over 16.2 IP vs. the Cardinals this year and though they are without Holliday today his replacement Allen Craig is 5-7 vs. Morton in his career.  In fact, Berkman, Molina, Schumaker, Theriot, Craig, and Furcal all in the line up are a combined 33-65 vs. Morton that’s a .507 average.  Morton has not pitched since 9/4 but in 8 starts vs. the Cardinals over his career he’s 2-4 with a 6.69 ERA.  In the last 3 years he has a 7.68 ERA during the day and the Cardinals are the #1 road team as far as OPS vs. RHP goes in the NL.  Pirates are 13-33 in Morton’s last 46 as a dog and 10-25 in their last 35 vs. RH starter.
