Orioles +127 (2* PLAY)
Wei-Yin Chen not Bruce Chen makes his debut tonight against the Yankees and the Yankees seem to always have some issues with pitchers they haven’t faced before.  The south paw Chen had an ERA under 3.00 the last 3 years in Japan.  While there are not any stats on Chen from the Yankees perspective the Orioles have plenty vs. Garcia who they have faced 113 AB and have a .327 average and a 1.026 OPS and they also have 9 HR in those AB’s so I’m confident the Orioles will be able to score some runs considering they have started the season hot with an .869 OPS where the Yankees have a .745 OPS this season thus far.  Baltimore also had a .743 OPS at home last year to the Yankees .751 on the road so the offenses are not all that far apart when playing at Camden Yards.

Diamondbacks -110 (4.4* MLB POD)
We have already won with the Diamondbacks before and we will back them here again as they send their new pitcher to the mound in San Diego against the struggling Edinson Volquez who can’t seem to help himself by allowing multiple batters on base.  If that happens again he won’t be able to escape like he did in his first start 5 IP 7K 3H and 4BB vs. the Dodgers.  Diamondbacks lineup is just a bit better in my opinion and Upton/Parra/Kubel are a combined 6-14 off Volquez so the success is there.

Mainly I’m banking on Cahill who has been great the last two years in the first month of the season.  Now he does have to play in a hitter’s park which will be completely different than Oakland, but tonight he gets to play in the National League’s version of Oakland’s pitcher friendly confines.  Cahill pitched much better in his final 3 outings this spring posting a  3.08 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP.  Cahill also had a 1.88 ERA over 6 starts last April, and 1.96 ERA the year before through his first month of pitching.  Dbacks are now 39-18 in their last 57 vs. a starter struggling with control with a WHIP over 1.30 and 36-16 in their last 52 vs. a RH starter while the Padres are 8-24 in their last 32 as a home dog and 15-37 in their last 52 vs. NL West.
