Angels -137 4.5* MLB POD
The Angels return home after a disappointing road trip, but they get there ace on the mound on Friday night in a very important game against their division rival that’s in first place.  Jered Weaver gave up 15 ER in his last two starts vs. Texas, but they both came in Texas where he has struggled big time.  He posts a 0.58 ERA at home this year, and in his career he’s got a 7-0 record in 12 home starts vs. the Rangers for a 2.23 ERA.  He’s also facing the Rangers at the right time.

The Rangers have gone into a bit of a mini slump led by Hamilton who is 4 for his last 31 with 10 K’s.  They have just a .620 OPS in the month of July good for 29th while the Angels are 4th with a .814 OPS.  They have also scored less than 3 runs per 9 vs. RHP in their last 10 games.  They do turn to Derek Holland to try to get a quality start and he posts a 2.58 ERA on the road this year, but a closer look and his last three have been against the mariners, A’s, and Astros.  Not exactly great hitting teams against lefties.  He’s faced just 1 top 10 team on the road and that was Boston in the beginning of the season.  He’ll have his hands full against the Angels who he owns a 4.76 ERA in 9 career starts.  That does not even count Trout/Trumbo/Pujols combo who have minimal AB against him.  The trio have great success vs. lefties with a .948 OPS for Trout, .907 for Trumbo and Pujols at .859.  Pujols however has been red hot with a 1.052 OPS in July.  Texas is now 7-19 in their last 26 as an under dog 5-16 as a road dog and 1-10 in Hollands last 11 starts as a dog.  Whilte the Angels are 40-12 in Weavers last 52 as a favorite and 45-14 in his last 59 home games as a favorite.  With revenge and a run at the division on the Angels mind they should take this game.

Diamondbacks -176 2.5* Late Night Fix
I’ll continue to just fade the Astros where I see value and despite the large juice we are paying I see value here.  Houston is dead last in OPS in July with a .550 mark and they have never faced Trevor Cahill before.  Meanwhile the Dbacks are starting to hit since they have gotten healthy and Bud Norris has struggled vs. this team.  IN 54 combined at bats the Dbacks have a .389 average and a 1.209 OPS.  He’s allowed 19 ER in 4 career starts spanning 15.2 innings and a 2.00 WHIP.
