Carlos Quintana is one of those pitchers I said I would fade and I meant it especially against Scot Diamond who is one of the rare pitchers to have less than 2 BB/9 and a GB% over 50. There have been 6 games where the White Sox have faced a pitcher in that scenario and they are 2-4 while the pitchers combine for a 1.70 ERA. White Sox Quintana has had two starts against the Twins and gave up 8 ER and 18 hits in just 13.1 IP. I like the Twins to steal one from the White Sox whose bats have cooled down significantly. Diamond also has two extra days of rest time.
I love the Giants in this spot as they just seem to smell blood and are looking to run away with the AL West. Meanwhile the Diamondbacks have completely fallen out of the race by losing 9 of 11. Ryan Vogelsong has a 1.37 ERA in 3 home starts vs. the Diamondbacks in his career and the Dbacks are only scoring 3.73 runs per 9 vs. RHP on the road to begin with. Vogelson also has a 2.44 ERA at home and a 9-2 record during his night games. Ian Kennedy has pitched well in his career against the Giants, but this is a different Giants line up now than when he faced them back in May. Over their last 10 games they continue to hit without Melky Cabrera with 5.10 runs per 9 vs. RHP and a 3.22 bullpen ERA. While the Dbacks are hitting just .211 with just 2.74 runs per 9 vs. RHP and a 4.50 bullpen. I love the value we are getting here with the home team.
