Ark State -3 @ -108 (4.4* NCAAF POD)
This game comes down to Ryan Alpin in the loss against Florida International last year he threw for just 126 yards, but now it’s time for revenge and that game was on the road. Now Florida International has a very good pass rush, but Ark State allowed half as man sacks at home as they did on the road. Alpin though has already been sacked 13 times in 6 games, but he did face Virginia Tech and Illinois already. I believe back at home he will have time to throw against a secondary that does not seem as good this year and that is ranked 87th in the country as they have a few new faces. They allowed Duke the only other passing team they have faced to throw for 335 yards as Renfree had quite the game. I think Alpin at home on revenge should be on his way to having a great night.

Next is the Arkansas State defense that has faced 8 interceptions already this year and they should have success on 3rd down as Florida International has an inconsistent offense and are only converting 35.9% of their 3rd downs. Arkansas State has yet to allow a 100 yard rusher and they’ve faced some pretty good ones in Rainey and Virginia Tech’s David Wilson who is ranked 7th in the nation in rushing. They held both under 100 yards. I believe if Flint runs on 1st down it’s going to result in 3rd and long and the Arkansas State’s pass rush is a strength of their defense too which should allow them to capitalize on Florida International’s inconsistencies. They have TY Hilton, but it’s just one player if they can keep him under control in the special teams game I think they are on there way to a win. Also note Florida International has one of the worst red zone offenses yes they are scoring points, but not touchdowns as they have just 12 of their 23 opportunities resulting in 7 points. Arkansas State has a stingy scoring defense because only 50% of their opponents trips have resulted in 7 points. Look for Arkansas State to trade TD’s with field goals a few times.

We saw Arkansas State coming off an open week last year play the Sun Belt favorites in Middle Tennessee State last year and the result was a 51-24 victory.
