Love Rutgers tonight. Louisville has a very similar team in that their offense is not very good and their defense is very good, but Rutgers just has more weapons on offense and is building and improving each week. Their defense is also been great leading the nation in takeaways and 2nd in sacks two things that will hurt Louisville tonight as Rutgers avenges last year’s 40-13 loss on their own turf. Rutgers does not forget that game.

Rutgers defense leads the nation with 24 sacks and their offensive line has only allowed 12 while Louisville has allowed 22 sacks. This offense is in shambles they have a true freshmen at QB, a QB coach as the offensive coordinator after firing their OC and a QB playing running back. Meanwhile Rutgers Defense is flying around the ball and continues to dominate as they are 16th in the nation in total defense. Their defense is getting off the field allowing just 29% 3rd down conversions over the last 3 games vs. quality opponents in Navy, Pit, and Syracuse. They just held Navy to 200 yards under their total. Containing the triple option is not easy by any means, but that shows their ability to stop the run and Louisville can’t run the ball anyhow so they should be able to concentrate on stopping the passing game or forcing turnovers where they have a huge edge being +13 on the season compared to Louisville at -4 To margin.

Rutgers offense also starts a true freshmen in Gary Nova, but he proved himself on some long drives last week and he’s got big time weapons in the passing game with goal line threat WR Mark Harrison and Muhammend Sanu who has 54 receptions is another big time threat any time he touches the ball. The running game is coming along with their first 100 yard rusher a week ago. Louisville’s defense has been solid but they have the tendency to give up big plays and I look for Rutgers to expose that as they have the players and have protected the QB enough to take some shots down the field. Overall Rutgers is the better team and that includes red zone offense and defense. Red Zone they have 15 more trips than Louisville’s offense and they are converting 56% into Td’s while Louisville is converting just 41% into TD’s. On defense they have allowed 17 trips with just 5 TD’s for a 29% rate, Louisville allowing 14 trips and 7 TD’s. Either way both teams will be kicking field goals and I believe the under looks good as well that’s why we have the teaser. Rutgers is 21-8-2 ATS in their last 31 as a road dog and Louisville is 6-14 ATS in their last 20 conference games and will fall victim to revenge tonight.
